Note from the Head of the Military Police to the General Commanding in Cochin China.

In reply to your enquiry No. 232 I have the honour to forward herewith the photographs of the two Chinemen Khun Nhuoc Son or Yan Yack Than and Hung Hoal Lee and to add the following particulars: -

He

Khun Nhuoc Son arrived at Saigon from Hongkong on the 6th of April by the "Wa Koc on the 7th. he appeared at the Immigration Officesand obtained a temporary residence permit valid for 3 months. He reappeared on the 13th and desired a permit to return to Hongkong. says he is a Drug Merchant domiciled at Chong Chouan in the Province of Canton. Being unable to produce any one to go security for him he had to deposit a monetary guarantee of 50 Dollars before getting a residence permit. He said he had come to Saigon to see his Cousin You Yang King from whom he had not heard for a very long time and who was said to be employed by the Prince Mingoon Min (a fact subsequently proved to be untrue) He went to see the Prince and was later arrested under the name of You Yack King.

Hung Hoai Lee arrived from Hongkong by the Polynesien on the 6th of April. Bearer of a Passport valid for one year up to the 30th of March 1915, passport was viséed at the Immigration Office on the 8th of April. He was also unable to mention any one to go security for him but was not obliged to put up a monetary guarantee. He was said to be the agent for the Commercial House" China Holland Trading Company/ at Hongkong. He is a resident of Hongkong. He only visited one possible business connection while in Saigon namely one Le Tack Seng at Cholon. This latter has been questioned and says he was unable to do any business with Hung Hoal Lee. He speaks English.
